Speed-sketching Taster Workshop

About Speed-sketching Taster Workshop

Release your inner creative on our Speed sketching taster experience run by Edinburgh artist Mark Kirkham, also known as EdinburghSketcher.

Capture in detail the historical architecture, unique heritage features and charming landscape of Edinburgh's city centre with Mark Kirkham, a local artist known as the Edinburgh Sketcher. Explore Edinburgh’s New Town and Portrait Gallery with a sketch book in hand, using ink and watercolour to bring your visit to life. You will take home your favourite drawing in a mount, plus a number of other personal pieces documenting your journey.

With helpful instruction from Mark you will quickly pick up sketching skills while increasing confidence in your own artistic ability as you wynd through cobbled streets, Georgian crescents and stylish shop fronts.

On this half-day workshop, we will start with quick simple drawings in black ink and increase to more detailed pieces using watercolour washes as your confidence grows.

This experience is also available as a full-day workshop which allows you to develop your sketching skills more fully, and to explore a broader range of locations.

Refreshment breaks - featuring locally sourced products - are an important part of The Arienas Collective experience. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby who we love to support. Our breaks allow time to socialise, make new friends, and chat to the artists.

Our artists support you throughout the day offering one-to-one guidance and tips, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.

The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.

The price for the day includes all materials and refreshments, and you will take home a framed copy of your favourite sketch to enjoy and inspire you.

All The Arienas Collective experiences are also available as a private group booking. Please email us for details.

For more information phone 07732 901150 or email lynn@thearienascollective.com

Please note that The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Speed-sketching Taster Workshop are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
