A special family fun day on Sunday 15 July will kick off four weeks of FREE outdoor art activities at the Gallery. Running daily from 12 noon until 4pm, these family sessions will bring the art play area to life, encouraging creative play in one of Edinburgh’s loveliest outdoor spaces.

Come rain or shine, the Gallery will also be hosting daily indoor activities at the same time, with different family-led events running each day, all focussed on colourful, hands-on making.

The art activities are open to children of all ages – and parents and grandparents too. Outwith the art classes, the pop-up play area, which includes colourful climbing frames, play pods, a balance beam and a slide, will be open daily from 10am-5pm.

The play area and daily events are supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The free family fun day on Sunday 15 July that launches the summer events programme, will feature all sorts of arty amusements including entertainers, face-painters and music, and there will be a second celebratory fun day on Sunday 12 August to close the programme.

Visitors will also be able to grab a picnic on the grounds– Heritage Portfolio will be offering artistic menu options such as blue vanilla ice-cream and white chocolate ice-cream which will be orange!
