To complement our In Focus: Scottish Photography exhibition. The National Trust for Scotland holds thousands of photographic images related to dozens of properties in its collections, from nineteenth century glass plates and prints to modern slides.
The Morton Photographic Project has spent the past few years digitising, cataloguing, researching and raising the profile of these collections. Ben Reiss, the Morton Photographic Curator, has been undertaking this work over the last six months, and will share discoveries made at properties as diverse as Canna House, Brodie Castle and Culzean Castle.
Ben Reiss undertook a museums traineeship at the Wordsworth Trust and has worked with ceramics at the Middleport Pottery in Stoke, planes at Brooklands in Surrey, and fossils at the Hunterian in Glasgow. He helped install the new galleries at the National Museum of Scotland, before becoming the Morton Photographic Curator at the National Trust for Scotland.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for The Morton Photographic Project: Exploring the Photographic Collections of the National Trust for Scotland are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
