About Kuniko Solo Marimba Recital at Stockbridge Parish Church

World-renowned percussionist Kuniko Kato will be performing works by J.S. Bach, Akira Miyoshi and Hywel Davies in the auditorium at Stockbridge Parish Church, 7.00-9.00pm. This is a rare chance to see a virtuoso performance in Edinburgh.

Kuniko is the only Japanese artist who signed exclusively with Linn Records based in Glasgow Scotland. Her last released album was named the #1 album of the year in 2017 and received grand prize at 2017 Japan’s CD Shop Award.

Kuniko conducts a recording session for a marimba concerto with Scottish Ensemble in Glasgow on July 9th , and this is a rare opportunity to listen to Japan’s world renown percussionist from Japan.

The concert is funded by Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan, Toshiba International Foundations.

Reviews - The Sunday Times describes Kuniko as ‘Meticulous and muscular performances, at once elemental and elegant. Brilliant.', while BBC Magazine praised 'Kuniko's voluptuous marimba...cloaks the music in an all-consuming glow.’
