BBC New Comedy Award finalist and UK comedy circuit favourite Russ Peers is bringing his hilarious debut hour show ‘Hereditary Peers’ to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2018! Don’t miss this brand new show at Just The Tonic’s The Grassmarket Centre (The Meeting Room) from Thursday 2nd – Sunday 26th August (not 13th) at 7.10pm!
Living in London and attending swanky dinner parties, a lot has changed for Russ since his days working at a supermarket checkout in Cumbria…his life may seem very different to his parents' but is it? Does his impatience and need to switch off lights come from his Dad? Does his need to please come from his Mum? And why drag up as Madonna? Does he fight this or give in to being Hereditary Peers?
With his laid-back Northern charm and his marvellous anecdotal style, Russ has audiences rolling in the aisles as he takes aim at all aspect of his life and regales with stories from his journey from Northern pathos to Southern sophistication.
Russ quickly established himself on the UK comedy circuit when he took to the stage back in 2013. After only 20 gigs he was a finalist in the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition as well as the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian Of The Year competition. In 2014, he was runner up in the Bath Comedy Festival New Act Of The Year competition and he won the Fosters Golden Jester Award. 2015 saw him get to the final of the BBC New Comedy Award, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 to over 7 million people.
Russ performed his first solo forty minute Edinburgh show ‘Russ Peers: Bad Gay!’ in 2016, with Gay Times magazine picking is as one of their ‘Essential Edinburgh Fringe’ shows to see.
You can catch Russ regularly on TalkRadio’s Saturday Breakfast with Penny Smith, and he has also appeared on BBC radio, including BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 Extra.
Russ is developing his own sitcom based around his mother’s life in Barrow-in-Furness and the strong women she surrounds herself with.
