About Misha’s Gang with Karen Marshalsay

Misha’s Gang, the Russian string orchestra who won a Herald Angel award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017, feature respected Scottish harper-composer Karen Marshalsay as a special guest in this afternoon concert.

Marshalsay, who specialises in playing the music of the bagpipes on the clarsach, has appeared on the Edinburgh International Festival and at the Edinburgh Mela with award-winning piper Allan MacDonald and currently works with Boys of the Lough founder Cathal McConnell’s trio.

She will be performing new orchestrations of her own compositions in her guest spot with the orchestra.

Formed by Misha Rachlevsky, who also founded the New American Chamber Orchestra, Misha’s Gang have performed all over the world as Chamber Orchestra Kremlin. They recently premiered "For Misha's Gang - Suite for small, medium, large and extra large fiddles," a specially commissioned work by Crimean composer Eskender Bekmambetov in New York and toured China earlier this year. They appear at theSpace @ Surgeons Hall from August 3 to 27.

Venue: theSpace @ Surgeons' Hall
