About The Intruder: Rehearsed Reading - Intruz: czytanie performatywne

What happens when something changes your life forever? How do we move on? Can we ever really be ourselves again?

The Intruder asks these hard questions in physical, visceral and candid way reflecting the chaos of our mind and our lives. Based on a true story, Remi’s world becomes mixed up after an aggression derails his life’s course. Can coming to a new country help him to leave his past behind?

Dealing with injustice, loss and fear, The Intruder is an uplifting story brimming with inspiring positivity, pragmatism and thankfulness. Playing with his new language and obliterating the barrier between cultures, Remi attempts to come to terms with the man he has become.

The Intruder/Intruz tells the story of a Polish man who moves from Poland to Scotland to pursue his dreams. Before graduation, he is confronted with two traumatic events (assaults/muggings), which make it impossible for him to fulfil his dreams. Having already been a victim of crime in Poland, he develops ‘the intruder”. His mental health is deteriorating and the police find the perpetrators that the protagonist agrees to meet.

Please note: This is a bilingual piece and there are 2 readings:

5.30pm - The Polish reading (70% in Polish and 30% in English)

7.30pm - The English reading (70% in English and 30% in Polish)

Following both readings there will be a short discussion with the creative team.
