About Playtime with Bancroft-Caribe-Bancroft

Saxophonist Phil Bancroft and his twin, drummer Tom have been major figures on the Scottish and UK jazz scenes over the past thirty years. They have worked together - notably in the widely acclaimed Trio AAB - and individually with musicians including pianist Geri Allen, saxophonist Charlie Mariano and guitarist Mike Walker and created many memorable projects such as Phil's multi-media Home, Small as the World and Tom's Orchestra Interrupto.

Here, in the latest of Edinburgh's popular regular Playtime sessions, they join Brazilian-born bassist Mario Caribe, a mainstay in Scottish music since the 1990s, to explore favourite jazz standards and original pieces in the stripped down, harmony-free style of Sonny Rollins' classic Way Out West trio. Sparky, spunky and genial improvising and, above all, clear communication with the listeners are the Bancroft way and you're likely to leave having been entertained by Tom Bancroft's engagingly zany line in chat.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Playtime with Bancroft-Caribe-Bancroft are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
