About Soundhouse: Swampfog

Soundhouse Organisation

Swampfog and friends present a 'Lundi Gras' party paying tribute to the New Orleans legends of R&B, soul and funk. With influence from The Meters and Dr John to Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Galactic, they'll be bringing an extra-brassy expanded lineup and inviting some special guests, to be announced.

Swampfog are a seven piece funk outfit from Edinburgh, spiritually via New Orleans. Mixing originals with their own heavy takes on classics both funky and unexpected, their sound is a true transatlantic gumbo of the battling horns and second line rhythms that epitomise New Orleans funk, along with a contemporary, aggressive twist.

Since their inception in August 2016 they have built a loyal local following through their late night residency at The Jazz Bar in Edinburgh, performed a live session for BBC Radio Scotland's Jazz Nights at The Quay series, collaborated twice with New Orleans' Soul Brass Band, and opened for Earth Wind & Fire, Chic and The Pointer Sisters in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park.

'Lundi Gras' was a sell-out in 2018, so get your tickets early, and bring your dancing shoes...

Venue: Traverse Bar Café
