About Tommy Smith and Brian Kellock with Kathleen MacInnes

Tommy Smith’s enduring partnership with pianist Brian Kellock has produced three outstanding recordings and concerts that have enthralled audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with their blend of informality and world class musicianship.

Kellock, who has accompanied great names including saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, trumpeter Art Farmer and singer Sheila Jordan, has a knowledge of the jazz canon that allows the two musicians to select classics and lesser known gems as they play, and their roles as musical director and featured soloist on the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra’s celebration of Duke Ellington, In the Spirit of Duke, give their interpretations of Ellington’s work special authority.

They’re joined for part of this concert by special guest Kathleen MacInnes, one of the great voices in Gaelic singing, to explore songs from her Hebridean tradition with sensitivity, producing the best in jazz harmony and improvisation with Gaelic expression.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Tommy Smith and Brian Kellock with Kathleen MacInnes are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
