Based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”, Viola is an exciting new aerial theatre work exploring our heroine’s strengthening, fracturing and evolving psyche, using aerial and acrobatic movement to challenge and expand our understandings of gender performance and mental health.
With a solo aerialist, violinist & cellist, this production interweaves Shakespeare’s original text with aerial performance (Silks and Corde Lisse), floor acrobatics, and live music to illuminate the inner questions and turmoil of Shakespeare’s most vibrant heroine.
Created by Director/Writer Charlotte McKechnie and choreographed by Adam Wright, Viola represents a radical, darker reimagining of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedy, using breath-taking physicality and transfixing soundscape.
