The Feminister

Take One Action Film Festival presents a screening of The Feminister, a gripping portrait of Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The Feminister

About The Feminister

This gripping portrait of politician Margot Wallström, chronicling her first four years in office as Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, provides remarkable access to the corridors of power. A passionate advocate for a feminist foreign policy, Wallström proves a defiantly outspoken presence on the international stage and soon faces death threats and intimidation. At a time when so much of our political landscape is dominated by brash (male) egos, witnessing such a skilled diplomat’s intelligence and determination feels like a radically hopeful act.

Plus short: Safe Space (Ben S. Hyland | 8 min | 2018 | UK)

BEYOND THE SCREEN
Join us after the film to explore how feminist perspectives are reshaping politics at national and international levels, with guests including representatives from Engender and others working for women’s rights in Scotland and beyond.

Presented in association with Engender.

Viktor Nordenskiöld | Sweden | 2018 | 93 min | Swedish with English subtitles

Screening as part of Take One Action Film Festival 2019, 18th - 29th September
