About Forth Children’s Theatre Auditions

Forth Children’s Theatre was established in 1979 and has performed two outstanding, sometimes award winning, shows a year since.
Our next Easter production is Oliver, A British musical based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens with music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. Oliver was the first musical adaptation of a famous Charles Dickens novel that became a stage hit when it premiered in the West End in 1960. Since then it has had a very successful run on Broadway as well as various tours and revivals. In addition, the film adaptation, brought out in 1968, was highly praised, winning six Academy Awards, including best picture.

For this production we are looking for a strong cast who are willing to work hard to make this show a success. We openly invite all interested individuals, between the ages of 10 and 18, to our auditions which will take place on Sunday 8th December 2019.

These auditions will be held at Madelvic House (33 Granton Park Avenue, Edinburgh, EH5 1HS) from 10.00am to 6.00pm.

Please note that the audition day will consist of morning workshops followed by small group auditions in front of the directing team. All materials will be learnt on the day so there will be no need to prepare anything in advance.
For casting purposes filming/photography may take place during auditions – if this causes any issues please let us know ahead of time and other arrangements can be made.

The first rehearsal will be on Friday 20th December, then breaking for Christmas and coming back together in January. From Friday 10th January rehearsals will take place on Fridays (6.00pm ro 9.00pm) and Sundays (12.00pm to 5.00pm) at Madelvic House. Attendance at each rehearsal is essential so please bear this in mind before attending the auditions.

The dates for the show are Wednesday 15th April 2020 – Saturday 18th April 2020 with a matinee performance on the Saturday afternoon and will be performed at Edinburgh Academy (42 Henderson Row, Edinburgh, EH3 5BL)

If you need any more information or you would like to confirm an audition space, please email;

FctOliver@hotmail.com

If you are interested in becoming part of this production but cannot make the audition date, or if you would like to help ‘back stage’ rather than on stage and would like to find out more please email the above address and someone will get back to you.

We look forward to hearing from you soon,

The Directing Team
