HARD ROCK CAFE EDINBURGH ANNOUNCES SERIES OF ‘QUIET HOUR’ SESSSIONS In partnership with Tailor Ed Foundation.
OFFERING A QUIETER, AUTISM-FRIENDLY EXPERIENCE FOR FAMILIES
Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh joined forces with Tailor Ed Foundation in 2017, to host the first ever autism-friendly ‘Quiet Hour’. Following glowing reviews and overwhelming demand, Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh and Tailor Ed are delighted to announce a series of ‘Quiet Hour’ sessions, set to take place monthly between February - June 2018. From 11am until 12pm the Cafe will be closed to the general public, while families who need a quieter experience have the opportunity to book a table and enjoy Hard Rock Cafe’s legendary service and atmosphere.
Dr Ruth Philip PhD (Roo), Project Manager for Tailor Ed says:
“Families with a child with autism, like any other family, enjoy going out for something to eat sometimes, but this seemingly simple and fun activity can present lots of extra challenges and stresses. ‘Quiet Hour’ provides families with the extra time and space they may need to enjoy eating out together. Simple but important things like not having to wait long for food and the music volume being lower can make a massive difference. Above all, having understanding staff puts families at ease. The families we support have welcomed the opportunity provided by Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh and hope other restaurants will follow their great example.”
Nick Chiverton, General Manager for Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh, says:
“It’s an honour to host ‘Quiet Hour’ at Hard Rock Cafe. The reception to the previous sessions has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re delighted to continue the collaboration with Tailor Ed. We look forward to welcoming those families in need of a quieter experience to the next event at Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh.”
Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh will operate a reduced number of television screens, lower volume for music and there will be plenty of space for children to move around and a designated area to relax in. Families are asked to pre-order food and drink from Hard Rock’s set menus, to reduce waiting time at the table. Most dietary requirements can be catered for and more specific dining requests can be arranged in advance.
Quiet Hour diners, The Young Family, say:
“Our family always looks forward to Quiet Hour. It makes such a difference knowing we can take our son to a restaurant and not have to worrsy because it's too noisy, we can also relax and enjoy our meals without the stress of worrying about the other diners. Quiet hour helps us introduce our son to busier social settings, and the Hard Rock Cafe and Tailor Ed staff on hand are wonderful and very patient.”
Tailor Ed Foundation have provided their advice to Hard Rock Cafe’s staff and Tailor Ed staff will also be on hand throughout Quiet Hour to assist customers and ensure a relaxing, comfortable experience. Guests will also be given a map of the Cafe featuring pictures instead of words, and visual supports will be used throughout the restaurant. Numbers are limited so it won’t get too busy. Guests will be able to enjoy lunch, get a chance to browse the world-famous memorabilia and visit the Rock Shop®.
