Edinburgh Playhouse, Saturday 18th August, 7.30pm
HOSTED BY JOEL DOMMETT & TOM ALLEN
Special guests confirmed include Reginald D Hunter, Tape Face, Lost Voice Guy, Mark Watson, Darren Harriott, Angela Barnes, Christopher Macarthur-Boyd, Suzi Ruffell, Neil Delamere, Tom Lucy, George Lewis, Ivo Graham, Jake Lambert, Rosie Jones and Joanne McNally.
2018 marks the 11th year of partnership between Off The Kerb Productions and Waverley Care, Scotland’s biggest charity providing care and support to those living with HIV and Hepatitis C, and the annual Edinburgh Comedy Gala returns in just one week!
Hosted by two of comedy’s hottest commodities, Joel Dommett and Tom Allen, and joined by a supreme line up of comedy talent, this year is sure to be one of the biggest and best comedy events of the Edinburgh Festival! Don’t miss it on Saturday 18th August at 7.30pm at the iconic Edinburgh Playhouse!
Taking up hosting duties this year are Joel Dommett and Tom Allen – two of the brightest comedy talents working on the comedy scene! Joel Dommett has had an incredible couple of years following his highly memorable stint in 2016’s ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’, winning over audiences with his unique sense of humour and loveable personality. 2017 saw Joel sell out his UK tour including two nights at the Hammersmith Apollo, and release his first book ‘It’s Not Me, It’s Them’ which went on to become a Sunday Times Best Seller. You can now see him as host of ITV2’s spin off show ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Now!’,as well as his own Comedy Central show with fellow comedian Nish Kumar – ‘Joel & Nish Vs The World’.
Joel Dommett said, “I’m super excited to be a part of the Waverley Gala again with the best comedians in the country. It’s always a pleasure to play wonderful huge venues that I will never be famous enough to fill myself.”
Tom Allen is another firm favourite on the UK comedy circuit. With his sharp, acerbic wit and camp storytelling he has won fans all over the globe. Last year saw him sell out his highly acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Absolutely’, which he is currently touring around the UK. Tom has made numerous TV and radio appearances including BBC1’s ‘Wedding Day Winners’, BBC2’s ‘Mock The Week’, ‘Live At The Apollo’, ITV’s ‘Royal Variety Performance’, Channel 4’s ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’, ‘Comedy Central Roast Battle’, and Radio 4’s ‘Loose Ends’ and ‘Just a Minute’. Most recently, Tom has joined the presenting team of Channel 4’s ‘Bake Off: The Professionals’.
All proceeds raised from the Edinburgh Comedy Gala go straight to supporting the life changing work of the charity. Since it’s launch in 2003, the now annual event has raised almost £450,000, with this year’s event looking set to topple the £500,000 mark, helping to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by HIV and Hepatitis C in Scotland.
