Founded in 1761, the Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society is the fourth oldest in the world and one of Scotland's most prestigious clubs located only 3 miles from Edinburgh city centre and 1 hour from The Old Course, St Andrews.
The mature parkland style course was originally designed by Willie Park Jnr with later modifications by world renowned architects Dr Alister MacKenzie and James Braid. As a testament to the quality of the course The R&A selected Bruntsfield as a Qualifying Venue for the Open Championship from 2011-15.
In 2017 the Bruntsfield course is undergoing a £1million re-development with the highly acclaimed golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert whose past projects include Turnberry, Cruden Bay and Royal Dornoch. Improved bunkering by re-introducing the original Alister MacKenzie shapes and re-positioning bunkers to reflect modern day equipment is the main focus of the works. In addition a new signature Par 3 16th Hole has been built, playing 175 yards over a pond and the present 13th hole is extended to become a dogleg Par 5, bringing the golf course back to its original Par 71 status.
