Physio Led Pilates are pleased to advise that they are now running a total 21 morning and evening Pilates classes every week across Central Scotland. You'll find our classes in Falkirk, Grangemouth, Polmont, Bo'ness, Linlithgow, Bathgate and Livingston.
Uniquely, the Instructors for all our Pilates classes are all HCPC Registered Senior Physiotherapists and therefore clients can feel assured that exercises will be be performed safely and effectively and will be modified to the appropriate level for them.
Business Owner, Lucy Livingstone, confirms:
“The beauty of our Pilates classes being taught and supervised closely by experienced Physiotherapists is that we welcome a wide variety of conditions, ages and abilities at our classes. Some people come along as they just want to try a new form of exercise or have been to Pilates classes before but want a more graduated approach. The key thing is that we teach classes that are safe, fun and relaxed where everyone is made to feel welcome”.
Many of our clients come to us after injury or surgery, or after pregnancy when they can naturally feel apprehensive about beginning to exercise again. Having the opportunity to discuss their health situation in advance of the classes starting and having that close attention and supervision of the Instructor gives them the confidence to begin exercising in a very supportive environment.
The many proven benefits of practicing Pilates include improved posture and body awareness, improved core strength and muscle tone, improved flexibility and ease of movement, improved breathing control, and refreshing the mind-body connection to aid relaxation and better sleep.
Business Owner and Class Instructor, Lucy Livingstone, first came across Pilates when working as a Physiotherapist in the NHS and saw first hand that it was ideal as a rehabilitation tool for patients primarily with low back and neck pain, amongst a multitude of other conditions. After trying the classes herself she was hooked on this new approach to exercise where the flow of the class was not only physically therapeutic but also mentally relaxing and was a refreshing change from the adrenalin filled Body Attack, Step and Combat classes she was used to attending.
Lucy went on to train and successfully qualify as a Pilates Instructor through the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute, teaching classes at her work as The Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in Spire Murrayfield and subsequently setting up her own business, Physio Led Pilates, whilst also continuing her clinical work and bringing up her young family.
Lucy confirms;
“I have been lucky enough to have been teaching locally now for over 5 years with a few more Instructors now coming on board to help spread the power of Pilates! Some of those Instructors even started as clients themselves so have also witnessed the benefits of Physio Led Pilates first hand! I feel incredibly lucky to say that I love what I do: doing clinical work and teaching pilates - it’s my happy place”.

Classes are available usually in 8 week blocks and must be pre-booked through our website. Class sizes are small and all equipment is provided for.
