Say yes to the sustainable dress (made from rose petals, orange peel, bamboo, and plastic bottles!)
The award-winning bridal boutique, Rachel Scott Couture, has garnered a reputation over the past 16 years for pushing boundaries and enabling brides to buck wedding traditions in the most creative of ways. And so, as an alternative to the classic silk wedding dress, they are preparing to turn heads once more as they reveal their latest designer collection from the British indie label, Rolling In Roses – featuring dresses made from rose petals, orange peel, bamboo, and recycled plastic bottles!
Despite the surprising origins of the fabrics – such as the vegan friendly silk alternative, orange-fibre, which is a by-product of the citrus juice industry – the finished results are in no way a compromise on traditional silk. They drape and flow softly over the figure in a range of comfortable and flattering silhouettes.
With an emphasis on individuality and personality, the new Rolling In Roses collection proved a natural choice for the Edinburgh stockist, Rachel Scott Couture. Commenting ahead of the launch, founder Rachel Snedden explained; ‘I was drawn to Rolling In Roses not just because of their beautifully off-beat, bohemian creations, and use of such intriguing and innovative fabrics, but also because of their admirably ethical approach.
‘We’ve been working hard as a brand to become more sustainable and eco-friendly in everything we do within the higher end luxury bridal dress industry.
So to be able to offer our brides a collection of sustainable, ethically produced dresses of such outstanding quality is so exciting.’
Rolling In Roses founder and ethical wedding dress designer, Hayley Neil, adds; ‘For us sustainability is a lifestyle, not a gimmick, and we strive to run our business as ethically and sustainably as possible in every way.
‘So we are beyond thrilled to bring our collection to Edinburgh where, thanks to Rachel Scott Couture, we can open people’s eyes to beautiful and sustainable bridalwear alternatives.’
The new collection from Rolling In Roses will be launching at Rachel Scott Couture, 29b Dundas Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6QQ, from Thursday 13th August to Monday 17th August after which the dresses will be available to buy.
