The Edinburgh Corn Exchange reveal their latest family-friendly venture
It doesn’t matter whether you remember the ‘80s the first time around or not, Edinburgh’s latest family-friendly attraction, Portal Mini Golf, is a fun new way to rewind, experience and celebrate this iconic decade.
Opening at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Friday 6th November, this unique take on mini golf features an 18-hole course which draws inspiration from a range of iconic pop culture references including hit TV shows and retro arcade games.
Portal Mini Golf has been two years in the making, with each distinctly themed hole painstakingly hand-painted by local artist, Dolly Hope. The result is a quirky, neon-coloured, fun-filled time-warp for all ages.
Commenting ahead of the opening, Portal Mini Golf owner and creator, Paul DeMarco explained; ‘We’ve gone all out with the design – it’s more than just a nostalgic nod to the ‘80s, it’s a fully immersive experience that’s guaranteed to take you right back in time!
‘Of course, you don’t need to have lived through the 1980s to appreciate the setting, nor do you need any actual golfing experience – it’s all about having fun in a completely original setting.’
Open seven days a week, 10am-10pm, and with food and drink available on-site, the indoor venue will no doubt prove popular with families this winter. In fact, it’s the perfect place for all ages to putt away an afternoon, enjoy a little healthy competition, and reminisce about an unforgettable era.
Portal Mini Golf opens to the public on Friday 6th November and will remain open 10am-10pm, seven days a week. Online bookings must be made in advance at www.portal-golf.com. Tickets are priced at £6pp, £20 group / family of four for 18 holes. No age restrictions apply. Visitors will receive one returnable golf club and golf ball upon arrival, plus a scorecard to take away. Covid secure health and safety measures are in place – masks must be worn at all times and all clubs and balls will be sanitized between use.
