Edinburgh Whisky, a new premium Scotch Whisky bottled in Scotland’s Capital City, officially launches today. The only whisky dedicated in namesake to the city, Edinburgh Whisky has been created to capture and honour Scotland’s cultural connection to the ‘Water of Life’. The family-owned company launches first with the ‘Discovery Collection’, a trilogy of regional single malts from across the country, rich in history and heritage. They will soon follow with an additional three releases in the coming months; a Campbeltown, Lowland and Island whisky which will complete the collection.
Edinburgh has long had an association with the world of whisky, once housing more than 100 whisky warehouses and exporting spirit around the globe from the bustling port of Leith where Edinburgh Whisky is now bottled.
With a rich abundance of history and whisky attractions, Edinburgh remains the gateway to Scotland’s distilleries.
“We’re excited to be bringing a new energy to Edinburgh Whisky. The city is so entwined with Scotch and the majority of people exploring Scotland for this reason come via Edinburgh and so it felt right for Edinburgh Whisky as a brand to act as a gateway for discovering different and exciting single malts too,” says Edinburgh Whisky’s, Greg Urquhart. Urquhart is responsible for sourcing and hand selecting the very best casks which are used in the new collection.
Edinburgh Whisky's inaugural ‘Discovery Collection’ showcases exceptional examples of Scotland’s regional malts from some of its most distinguished distilleries. Each classic expression is aged in specially selected bourbon and sherry casks and aim to take the audience on a sensory journey that showcases the unique characteristics Edinburgh Whisky look for in all their exemplary malts.
Comprising of a 7 year old Speyside, a 9 year old Highland Whisky and a 9 year old Islay, these three single malts embody the classic hallmarks of balance, depth and complexity which Edinburgh Whisky say “makes an exceptional whisky gift and is ideal for the whisky-lover who enjoys discovering the finest flavours, finishes and character.”
From the sweetness and light of Speyside to the fragrance and fruit of the Highlands and powerful peatiness of Islay, each expression has been carefully chosen to reflect the best of each Scottish whisky region.
Housed in a beautifully presented gift box, each exquisitely crafted glass bottle, designed by independent, award-winning studio PRC, is interwoven with a unique Edinburgh Whisky tartan and foiled crest. Featuring in the next Scotch Whisky Experience tour, as well as, in their expertly curated store for purchase, Edinburgh Whisky will land soon in select specialist whisky retailers and in the premium whisky on trade.
Retailing from £49.95, Edinburgh Whisky is available to purchase now directly via https://edinburghwhisky.com/
