Try Tag Rugby is delighted to announce it has awarded Clodagh Nic Lochlainn, the current owner of Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh North, the additional licence for Edinburgh South.
This will see Try Tag Rugby Leagues being held in the south of Edinburgh for the first time. Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh North will also now become Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh.
The expansion into the south of the city comes on the back of an extremely successful first year for Try Tag Rugby in the north of Edinburgh. At the end of its first year Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh, had nearly 600 registered players and 24 teams (nearly 300 men and women) playing weekly in its Leagues.
The first League in the south of the city will start on Thursday 27th April, in the popular location of the Meadows. The mixed adult league for people of all genders is open for registration to teams as well as individuals who will be placed on a team. The new Meadows League will run alongside the existing North Edinburgh Leagues which will take place at Inverleith Park on a Monday and Tuesday.
A series of Free Taster Sessions will be taking from the start of April in the run up to the leagues starting for people to Give Tag A Try!
Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh licence owner, Clodagh Nic Lochlainn said: “Following the success of our first year in Edinburgh, it seemed only right to offer more locations to our players. Edinburgh continues to bring people together from across the U.K. and further afield and Tag Rugby has proven to be a great way for people new to the city, and those who've been here for years to meet up and build a community together. The Meadows is in the heart of
the south of Edinburgh and will be a great location for our new league. We look forward to offering a new venue to our current and new players and are excited to see what 2023 brings for Tag Rugby in Edinburgh!”
Try Tag Rugby National Licensing Director, Carl Duckels said: “It’s fantastic to see how Edinburgh has taken to Try Tag Rugby in its first year. We were always confident it would do well, but Clodagh has done an amazing job of building such a fun and vibrant Tag Rugby community. Even after only a year, Try Tag Rugby has become so much more to people than just a sport. Lots of friendships have been made and for many it’s one of the real highlights of their weeks.
With additional Leagues now opening in the south of the City, it gives even more people a chance to get involved and to have fun staying fit and meeting new people.”
Try Tag Rugby is one of the leading adult social sports organisations providing high-quality Tag Rugby Leagues and events across the UK in regions including; London, Brighton & Hove, Bristol, Coventry, Manchester, Sheffield, Thames Valley, Warwickshire, West Yorkshire and Wigan.
Tag Rugby is a fun and exciting minimal contact social sport suitable for all adults, no previous rugby experience is necessary and it’s a sport that can be enjoyed by beginners and experienced players alike.
Tag Rugby is a great way to meet new people, as well as a chance to meet up with existing friends. There will be weekly post-match socials, where players come together to enjoy a drink with their teammates and opposition.
