This collaboration highlights the reopening and full operation of the Town Hall, and supports the delivery of a high-quality arts programme to delight audiences, and involve both the local and wider community.
“Not only are we thrilled to be producing our first pantomime together, we also are excited to be staging it in partnership with Portobello Town Hall - a venue and space we've been eager to use for years. We know how much the community values a local production, and we’re pulling out all the stops to make it a Porty Panto to remember. To be a part of Portobello Town Hall’s new chapter is an absolute honour, and we can't wait to see what great things we can achieve together.”
- Tommie Travers & Aidan O’Brien, Creative Directors of Stage Door Entertainment
“Portobello Town Hall is Back in Business! Portobello Central SCIO is thrilled to have teamed up with Stage Door Entertainment to bring live theatre back to Portobello Town Hall. Christmas is the Panto Season - oh yes, it is! - and we can’t wait to have CINDERELLA and her dysfunctional family back in Portobello. We are excited to welcome you back!”
- Wendy Davies, Trustee
Stage Door Entertainment was set up by two creative pals - Tommie Travers and Aidan O’Brien. Tommie and Aidan have a combined experience of 30 years in the arts and entertainment business between them, with this being Tommie’s 10th year working in professional Pantomime. From producing, musical direction, and choreography, to painting sets and creating online ticket systems, they have a wealth of experience behind them, and are passionate about providing entertainment at the highest level. Over the years, their 'can do' attitude and attention to detail has impressed colleagues; customers; and audiences alike. Both Aidan and Tommie have produced sell-out productions of shows such as Les Misérables, Sister Act, and Sunshine On Leith, and are looking forward to bringing their première production of Oliver! to the Town Hall from 4th - 7th October, featuring a talented local cast and production team. Bringing the Panto back to Porty is a dream come true for Aidan and Tommie, and they are truly thankful for the support of the Trust at Portobello Town Hall.
Portobello Town Hall is a historic landmark in the heart of the community. It has undergone extensive renovations, and is now transformed back into a vibrant cultural centre that has been handed back to the people of Portobello. The Town Hall provides a hub for community classes, clubs, and events, and offers a theatre space for established and emerging talent. After years of hard work from Portobello Central, the Trustees, and volunteers, the Town Hall can return to being a key player in the life of Portobello and the surrounding area.
In order to bring their pantomime to life, local producers Tommie and Aidan are looking for a gifted writer and director, as well as a talented cast. They are looking for a story that creates endless laughter; brings the audience together; and provides entertainment to all ages. They are also looking for cast members - previous pantomime experience is preferred, but not essential. They hope to find people who are excited to work on a new project; can engage well with an enthusiastic audience; and who have professional acting and singing experience. They encourage people of all ages and from all backgrounds to apply. They will also be looking for talented young dancers to make up the ensemble of the show; and musicians to play in the live band - more information to follow on this. Applicants should email: info@stagedoorentertainment.co.uk for full details.
This magical production of CINDERELLA promises to transport audiences to a world of wonder, where dreams come true! Stage Door Entertainment offers an inclusive experience to ensure that everyone can be a part of this fantastic journey, with accessible performances - including signed and audio-described shows; and exclusive rates available for schools and groups. This rendition of the beloved tale is set to be an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
