• Deliveroo announces winners of the Restaurant Awards 2024

• Luxford Burgers from Edinburgh is crowned Independent Restaurant of the Year in Scotland

• Fresh Mex, Salt & Chilli, Ting Thai and Buck’s Bar amongst winners in cuisine categories after customer votes revealed they come out top for Scots

21st February 2024: The roo-sults are in! Deliveroo announces the winners of its 2024 Restaurant Awards. The awards celebrate the best and most loved independent restaurants across the UK and Ireland - from local independent burger joints to neighbourhood sushi restaurants and all the dishes, cuisines, and flavours in between.

11 local restaurants in Scotland beat off stiff competition from across the region after Deliveroo food fans voted with their hearts (and stomachs) for their favourite local establishments.

The awards saw Edinburgh’s popular Luxford Burgers - the home of ‘real’ gourmet burgers- take the top regional gong as Independent Restaurant of the Year Scotland 2024 after dedicated customers cast their votes online to help decide the winners.

A further 10 Scottish restaurants were recognised in the region’s best cuisine awards, with winners including Ting Thai (Best Thai), Chaakoo (Best Indian & Nepalese) and Cafe 100 (Best Breakfast and Coffee).

The full list of winners of the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2024 in Scotland includes:
• Independent Restaurant of the Year Scotland 2024: Luxford Burgers
• Best Burger in Scotland: Luxford Burgers
• Best Mexican in Scotland: Fresh Mex
• Best Japanese in Scotland: Maki & Ramen
• Best Chinese in Scotland: Salt & Chilli
• Best Pizza in Scotland: Matto Pizza
• Best Chicken in Scotland: Buck’s Bar
• Best Thai in Scotland: Ting Thai
• Best Indian & Nepalese in Scotland: Chaakoo
• Best Desert in Scotland: Shakes n Cakes
• Best Breakfast & Coffee in Scotland: Cafe 100

Alex Galpin, Founder of Luxford Burgers, said: “What an absolute dream to have won this award! We've been proudly serving our burgers to the Edinburgh community since 2020, and we are truly grateful to our loyal customers and partners like Deliveroo for being on the journey with us as we have opened delivery in Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham and Leeds over the past two years.

We certainly have ambitions to expand the business even more widely across the UK, and this award and recognition will help us do exactly that."

This year saw a total of 60 awards up for grabs, including the highly coveted Independent Restaurant of the Year award which was won by Dublin-based Greek restaurant, Yeeros, and a number of ‘above and beyond categories’, including Beating Heart of the Community, Rider Love, Most Sustainable Restaurant and Customer Innovation.

Over 66,000 votes were cast by loyal customers over a two week period to crown no less than 50 regional cuisine-led winners from Best Pizza to Best Chinese, Best Salad, Best Chicken and beyond. Votes were cast across five regions in the UK and Ireland (London, South England & Wales, North England & East Midlands, Scotland and Ireland) by hungry fans keen to show support for their favourite local restaurants.

Deliveroo founder and CEO Will Shu said: “I say it every year, but the standard of finalists and winners for this year’s Restaurant Awards has been incredible. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a number of restaurant owners to hear about their stories, food, and the positive impact they’ve had on their local communities and we are proud to partner with such an incredible array of dedicated restaurants to deliver food from around the world to doorsteps across the UK and Ireland. A huge well done to all of this year’s winners.”

All winners will be announced on Deliveroo’s social channels from 21st February as part of a 2024 Restaurant Awards social takeover, which will spotlight all 60 award winners.
