The Edinburgh Short Film Festival returns from 7th to 16th November bringing some of the world’s best short films to Filmhouse!

From Locarno and HotDocs Jury winners, alongside winners and nominees from a host of international film festivals, including Venice, Cannes, the Berlinale, New York, Melbourne, Festival Regard and Athens as well as the best Scottish and UK short films of 2025.

There’s guest programmes from the Vilnius Short Film Festival; screening a programme of Lithuanian shorts, Shortcutz Amsterdam’s fascinating Amsterthem doc project, visiting European Film Festivals for our European night, and our regular Scottish shorts night returns with a packed programme of outstanding Scottish shorts.

We’re excited to welcome Jan Harlan, Stanley Kubrick’s producer, for a masterclass, where he’ll be sharing his and Kubrick’s filmmaking insights for young and up and coming filmmakers, alongside our usual Q and As, panel discussions and networking sessions.

This year we are only at the Filmhouse.
