Following an extensive investment, step inside Lochrin and you’ll find a lavish, moody and opulent cocktail bar in dark green and red hues. A gentle reminder of a speakeasy gentleman’s club with a warm, cosy, elegant vibe. Head outside onto the terrace and you’ll find incredible views from the rooftop across the skyline of Edinburgh and towards the iconic castle.
Lochrin is a nod to the industrial heritage of Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge area and named after a gin distillery. Built by James Haig, a canny Edinburgh businessman, back in 1780 he was one of the key players in Edinburgh’s early gin scene and founded the first purpose-built gin distillery in Scotland called Lochrin, a stone’s throw from the new bar.
Wayne Androliakos, Regional Director of Operations said; “We’ve invested heavily into creating something very different for Edinburgh. Once you step out of the lift and onto the 6th floor, guests will be transported to an eclectic bar, where guests can imbibe in their choice of drinks whilst soaking in the incredible views across the city. With summer on the horizon, now is the perfect time to launch it.”
Embarking on a new chapter for the bar, highly skilled mixologists have curated specialty cocktails that pay homage to the history of Edinburgh. A selection of small foodie tapas style plates and meat or cheese sharing boards will complement and pair with the cocktail list, alongside an extensive collection of rare and aged Scotch whiskies, local gins, craft beers, wines and champagnes.
A chilled and relaxed vibe during the week will be enhanced at weekends with a range of live events promoting local talent. On set dates, guests can relax, sit back and enjoy black and white movies and iconic Scottish films that will be shown on the built-in cinema screen. Lochrin Bar is also available to book for exclusive use.
