After a five-year hiatus from Squarepusher, in which time he composed music for children’s TV and pipe organs, the hugely versatile producer Tom Jenkinson returned to his roots in dance music with his 2020 album, Be Up A Hello. Featuring Squarepusher’s signature adrenaline-rush style of breakneck beats, complex rhythms and visceral fun, it was followed up by the Lamental EP a few months later.
Squarepusher’s debut album, Feed Me Weird Things was originally released on Aphex Twin’s label Rephlex Records and last year Warp released a remastered edition to mark the album’s 25th anniversary. Squarepusher’s fearless, often brutal style and cinematic odysseys have been praised for pushing boundaries, and his electronic music draws influences from rave culture, techno, jungle and acid house.
