This is a beginners level Indian classical dance class, for children between the ages of 4 and 9 years.
Saturday mornigns from 30th April to 2nd July.
The classical dance form we teach is called, 'Bharatanatyam' and it comes from the south of India. It is a harmonious blend of expressions, melody and rhythm. In Bharatanatyam, the dancer is a story teller and the language is of hand gestures, facial expressions and rhythmic footwork.
In this class, students are introduced to the basic sets of steps of the dance form, as well as the intricate array of hand gestures that both accompany pure dance movement, and are used to communicate stories and express emotion.
New students are welcome to join our summer term classes, which runs from 30th April to 2nd July. As part of summer term, our summer student showcase takes place on 12th June. All Theiya Arts students have the opportunity to be part of this show.
