In a celebration of the centenary of jazz maverick bassist and composer, Charles Mingus, Emma Smith deconstructs his music, showcasing the raw energy and talent of females improvisers from jazz, folk and electronica. The music reflects Mingus’ big sound and ranges from raucous to romantic and tender to turbulent.
