This year's Alan Bruford Lecture is presented by Prof. John T Niles, one of the world’s greatest scholars of oral storytelling. It marks the publication of his book Webspinner: Songs, Stories, and Reflections of Duncan Williamson, Scottish Traveller.

The lecture is given in memory of Scottish scholar Alan Bruford and is presented by the University of Edinburgh’s Department of Celtic and Scottish Studies.


Part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2022, Tales, Tongues and Trails is a celebration of regional and international language, landscape and identities for Scotland's Year of Stories.
