Junk Journaling known by a variety of different names including Art Journaling, Scrapbooking, Mixed media journaling etc.
The idea is to use items from your own life, your old sentimental bits, the current things that are going on and new creations in a book to record, to create, to explore and to just enjoy. Frequently rubbish is upcycled to varied degrees, because why not?
Use and develop your current skills and challenge yourself to learn new skills related to paper craft(stamping, paper dying etc), sewing, book binding; whilst also looking at objects and skills in new ways.
Each journal is unique, and each will be a treasure.
No previous art experience required. You can machine sew your book cover, hand sew it, or not sew it at all if you prefer.

For example, my own personal journal uses some fabric that my mom and I bouhgt together so it reminds me of her, left over fabric from a few craft projects I did during Covid, its sewn with embroidery thread that belonged to my grandmother; and uses colours, stamps and images of things I like on the pages.
Items you may want to bring along – fabrics and ribbons(old clothes, torn cushion covers, lace, scraps) ; paper items like book pages, photos, receipts, junk mail, seed packets, magazines etc; and small thin items like buttons, beads, metal findings,
However, you will go home with a lovely journal as long as you bring yourself, and open mind and a spirit of fun along.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
