Offering some of the most innovative tuition available with our BAFTA winning team, Knock & Nash have a national reputation of providing actors with a bespoke exciting alternative to traditional conservatoire training.
The Foundation in Screen Acting Intensive is a five day programme crafted to explore essential skills required for working as an actor in the world of Film and TV. This immersive course offers industry based talent development rooted in character-led storytelling. The unique curriculum has been designed by a team of leading industry professionals; encompassing notable theories of Meisner, Michael Chekhov and our own practice in a screen acting context. Our students develop a mastery of techniques that create and support the delivery of unique and assured performances on screen. You will also explore: script and story analysis, character in performance, audition preparation, and employability in screen business.
The programme offers a rounded and varied approach to embodying the work featuring a plethora of approaches and skills. You will work and adapt to: shot size, cheating, hitting the mark, shooting contemporary scenes from television and film, and the preparation of different styles of work, including soap, drama and comedy. Innovative in structure and approach, we adopt industry standard ‘on-set’ conditions at all times and you will practise a high level of on-set protocol.
We offer maximum contact hours with the tutors and capped small groups to tailor the process for each individuals needs and requirements. This way we can guarantee that you remain engaged at all times and receive the extensive personalised tuition you deserve.
You will be given daily opportunities to put your newfound skill set into practice, shooting daily on our Netflix approved equipment. Whilst an understanding of theory will be integrated into your practise, our programmes are completely vocational. Each day you will shoot a scene on camera applying acting methodology to performances and then critically evaluating its effectiveness in both group sessions and at home. Constructively reviewing footage proves a valuable learning tool, particularly when comparing performances from the beginning and end of the course.
This a professional development course suitable for adults only. This is the initial programme for all new Knock & Nash students. While you don’t need any formal training or experience in performance to join this course, we are looking for creative students who are keen to challenge themselves, experiment and push boundaries.
You will be required to complete preparation work at home outside of the sessions. Please be aware that actor training by its very nature can involve exercises and exploration that some students may find challenging.
Course fees can be paid in full or in three interest-free monthly payments.
