Five artist friends are returning to Edinburgh's Birch Tree Gallery in March this year.
Rona MacLean, Cat Outram, Aileen Grant, Kairen Bergius and Karen Rogers have come together again to exhibit work in a range of media - oil and acrylic paintings, screenprints, etchings and linocuts. The exhibition will include landscapes and seascapes from the Scottish Islands, imagined treescapes, a series of small etchings of Edinburgh, and much more.
The group have exhibited together every year (apart from the Covid years) under the banner No Woman Is An Island. After the success of their last show in Tweedmouth last Autumn, they have been hard at work to produce many new pieces.
Rona MacLean has a love of colour and works in a variety of media - oil, acrylic, pastel and print – her favourite being screen print. She will be showing a range of work including several new screen prints of trees and wintry scenes.
Cat Outram will be showing new and favourites from her 'Small Square Series' of etchings. Recent editions include new 'old town' views and a couple from Berwick upon Tweed.
Aileen Grant will be showing a mix of landscapes and seascapes of the Scottish Highlands and Islands - Staffa, Iona and Skye. She will have oil paintings, acrylic works and photopolymer prints made from her drawings.
Kairen Bergius describes herself as a colouroholic and she will be showing new landscape paintings of the west coast of Scotland as well as some Northumbrian favourites.
Karen Rogers' recent work is inspired by places near her home in East Lothian. She has been working on a series that explores the connections between the river and the surrounding landscape. Another emerging body of work relates to harbours on the theme of shelter.
The exhibition will open at 1 – 5pm on Sunday 12th March 2023.
Thereafter it will be open daily 11am to 5pm from Monday 13th to Sunday 19th March.
