Learn to cast pewter medals with cuttlefish moulds.
This one-day taster will introduce you to the ancient and sustainable technique of casting with pewter using cuttlefish moulds. You will design and carve into a cuttlefish shell and pour molten metal into your own mould before demoulding and finishing them off.
Through the course you will:
Learn to use a variety of tools to carve into cuttlefish to create reduction-based patterns for the moulds.
Have the opportunity to melt and pour pewter into your individual mould.
Learn how to finish your pewter casts using Dremels and files.
Suitable for beginners and those with some experience of working with metalwork too.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
