The exhibition tour explores Dalkeith Palace’s musical past through artefacts originally intended for Dalkeith Palace, illustrated text panels and a soundtrack of music originally heard at the Palace over 200 years ago.
Join us to celebrate the musical life and patronage of Henry and Elizabeth, 3rd Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, who made their home a true salon of the Scottish Enlightenment. A cast of exceptional thinkers and performers were welcomed to Dalkeith Palace, including the educational innovator Anne Young, star soprano Angelica Catalani, Scottish music advocates Niel and Nathaniel Gow, Ignatius Sancho, the first composer of African descent to publish his music in Britain, and the Italian Corri family who were central to musical life in Edinburgh.
Small group tours running at 11.30am and 2.30pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 18 June to 03 September.
Dalkeith Palace, Dalkeith Country Park, via Kings Gate, Dalkeith, EH22 1ST
