Rich imagery written in the vernacular characterises this compelling double bill featuring James Conor Patterson and William Letford. Both speak to the resilience of ordinary people as they adapt to strange and uncertain times.
Part prose, part poetry, Letford's 'From Our Own Fire' takes us into a not-too-distant future where artificial intelligence rules the world and a working class family use their wits to live off the land.
Crafted in a unique blend of Newry street language, Scots, and Irish-inflected English, Patterson's bandit country journeys through the semi-lawless borderlands between Northern Ireland and the Republic, capturing the haunting spectre of the former militarised boundary, now a ghostly, semi-wild frontier.
