Over 8,000 years ago, the east coast of Britain was struck by a 70 ft high tsunami, with the enormous waves even washing over some of the Shetland islands. Probably the largest marine megaslide tsunami so far recovered on the planet, this event had significant effects on the landscape, seascape and the human population of much of Britain.
On 8th February, join the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and archaeologist Dr Clive Waddington to discover how experts have unearthed the effects of this catastrophic event on Scotland's Mesolithic peoples. This talk is free and open to all and is followed by a drinks reception.
