This event celebrates the life and work of Duncan Ban MacIntyre through his own words and music, performed by some of Scotland’s greatest singers and performers, at The Scottish Storytelling Centre.
About Donnchadh Bàn at 300
Donnchadh Bàn Mac an t-Saoir (Duncan Ban MacIntyre) – one of the greatest Gaelic poets and songwriters – was born 300 years ago this month. From Glen Orchy originally, he lived the last decades of his life in Edinburgh; one of the many Gaelic speakers to do so at the time.
This event will celebrate his life and work through his own words and music performed by some of Scotland’s greatest singers and performers.
Mary Ann Kennedy, Gillebride MacMillan and Allan MacDonald will share their own favourites of Donnchadh Bàn’s work in a special evening of music and song, linking Glen Orchy and Edinburgh - and the eighteenth century to the present day.
