Join us in the sewing studio for 6 evenings and make any garment you like!
During your first class, you can bring in a shop-bought pattern to work from - this can be any garment you like - do try and think about your sewing skills and match a pattern appropriate to those skills - we love folks being ambitious and taking on a challenge but if this is the very first garment you are making try to pick something relatively easy - tunic dress, simple skirt, pyjama bottoms, shorts.
More complex items are things like winter coats, shirts, lined dresses etc. If you are unsure please email with pattern ideas.
Together, over the course of six weeks and with the help of your talented dressmaking tutor, you will learn step by step how to follow your pattern, successfully make the garment and leave with the skills to make many more and confidence to try other patterns too!
Dressmaking is a wonderful, relaxing and mindful craft but best of all, at the end of six weeks, you'll have a stunning garment of your choice handmade entirely by you!
Knowledge required
You should have some machine sewing abilities - know how to wind spool & thread up a machine and have sewn simple projects.
Please join a beginner's sewing class if you have no previous machine sewing skills or would like to brush up on skills before joining the beginner's dressmaking class. It's also advisable to attend the intermediate sewing class as this will elevate your skills before taking on the challenge of making clothes and build up your confidence prior to this course.
What to bring:
Please bring in a shop-bought pattern to work from. Please be sure to check the sizes on dress pattern - sometimes they are U.S. sizing and also sometimes small made - you may need a bigger size than what you'd take in a shop.
Session repeats
This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week 6.15pm to 8.45pm
