Join us to celebrate the incredible work of Scotland’s nursing staff and hear from expert children’s nurses. Join our finalists in the Children’s Nursing category of our RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards for an evening of celebration and discussion. These nursing staff have played a key role in ensuring children receive the best start in life and have made an outstanding contribution to the care of children and young people.

Hear from the Care Experienced Young People's Service from NHS Tayside and how they have improved experiences and health outcomes by providing support, access to services, and a sense of safety and trust. The Care Experienced Young People's Service from NHS Tayside, based in Dundee, provides care, support and advice to care experienced children and young people up to the age of 26. Hear from Stuart Bell, Community Nurse Team Leader, about the team of nurses and midwives who work closely with social workers, school nurses, doctors and other services to promote the health and wellbeing of these young individuals; and how the team has improved the experiences and health outcomes of young people by providing them with support, access to services, and a sense of safety and trust; and from Chloe Meechan, Charge Nurse at the West of Scotland Mother and Baby Unit at Leverndale Hospital, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, about the team’s dedication to delivering high-quality acute inpatient mental health care for mothers and their babies.

Hear too from finalist in the People’s Choice category of our RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards, Derek Jolly on establishing an advanced nurse practitioner team in Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) providing care for extremely ill children and young people. Derek Jolly, Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), has been instrumental in establishing an advanced nurse practitioner team in children's hospices, providing care for extremely ill children and young people.

The Care Experienced Young People's Service from NHS Tayside, based in Dundee, provides care, support and advice to care experienced children and young people up to the age of 26. The West of Scotland Mother and Baby Unit at Leverndale Hospital, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, provides acute inpatient mental health care for mothers and their babies. Hear from Chloe Meechan, Charge Nurse, about the team accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Quality Network and the therapies they offer to enhance the mother-infant relationship and about improvements they have implemented including introducing peer support workers, developing pathways for fathers, partners, and carers, and promoting health and wellbeing awareness.

Derek Jolly, Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), has been instrumental in establishing an advanced nurse practitioner team in children's hospices, providing care for extremely ill children and young people. Hear how Derek has sought innovative solutions to challenging situations and his ability to instil confidence and comfort in stressful environments, through his work in hospitals, hospice settings and homes, ensuring families can spend quality time with their children facing life-limiting conditions.
