Immerse yourself in the melting pot of Indonesian and Scottish culture brought to you by Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra — the Gold Medallist of the 2019 World Orchestra Festival — mixing together traditional Indonesian music and nostalgic Scottish songs with a dynamic twist.
Enjoy lively arrangements of iconic melodies from both cultures — a medley of Javanese folk songs 'Cublak Cublak Suweng' and 'Manuk Dadali' (one of the winning songs from the World Orchestra Festival) which incorporates a mix of traditional music and Latin American rhythms; 'Kopi Dangdut', an Indonesian twist on 'Moliendo Cafe' (a Venezuelan song that has since become an iconic Indonesian dance anthem); a traditional Balinese song with hints of ‘Kecak’ (a vibrant polyrhythmic voice chant); as well as modern twists on beloved Scottish classics, 'Loch Lomond' and 'Oran na Cloiche'. Joining TRUST as a guest vocalist will be accomplished Gaelic musician and songwriter, Kim Carnie. Kim, a former Gaelic Musician of the Year, is well known to Scottish audiences and performs regularly as a lead vocalist in a number of leading Scottish bands such as Mànran.
Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra (TRUST) is a non-profit foundation under the tutelage of Trinity Optima production, and is directed by Dr Nathania Karina. TRUST has previously won the gold medal at the 2019 World Orchestra Festival in Vienna, and a silver medal at the 2015 Australian International Music Festival. TRUST was invited to perform at the National Palace in August 2019 for the President of the Republic of Indonesia as one of the rising music talents, and recently performed for two prestigious G20 events with the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy. Additionally, TRUST has also collaborated with the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Spain’s Siero Chamber Orchestra, and has a collection of different-genre concerts under their belt: the most recent one being the record-breaking “The Legends 8: Symphonic Tales from Ghibli”, performed to an audience of 12,000. Supporting TRUST’s efforts to produce the shows will be Glasgow based charitable Foundation, W M Mann Foundation.
Presented by TRUST Orchestra of Indonesia (in association with W M Mann Foundation)
