Discover the Wildness of Australian Wines!
From the sun-drenched vineyards of the Barossa to the cool-climate elegance of Tassie, to big bold Margaret River, and of course the Yarra! Australia's diverse land produces an impressive array of world-class wines. We'll be exploring these classic regions, while also diving into the wonderful new-wave winemakers putting lesser explored regions, and styles, on the map.
The result? By the end you'll be shouting 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie', and will have developed quite the thirst for wines from Down Under.
About this event
Join us at Port of Leith Distillery in Leith, Scotland on Sunday, 21 July 2024 at 6.00pm.
On arrival you'll be treated to a grounding aperitif to transport you to this faraway land and give you time to enjoy the distillery views.
And then the tasting will begin!
What'll you get in that?
- 6 x Aussie Wines,
- A bloody good Masterclass - filled with local drinking tips + of course fun facts,
- Delicious Charcuterie/Cheese to nibble on! (And maybe a Tim Tam or two)
Wine Expert Isobel Salamon will lead you on your Aussie evening. During which you'll taste delicious wines from all over the Australian countryside.
So come and discover just why this sunburnt country (as famously described in Dorothea Mackellar's poem "My Country") is such a mecca for wine!
This tasting is all about inclusivity and having a good time. So whether you're a wine novice, bit of a connoisseur or simply love getting out and trying new experiences, this one's for you.

About:
Slonk is an international wine consultancy brand dedicated to working with Winemakers, Sommeliers, Venue Owners, Importers and more to provide on demand sommelier services, and create an inclusive atmosphere for education, inspiration and team/business development, all while demystifying wine.
The Port of Leith Distillery is a new Scotch Whisky distillery in Edinburgh's historic port district of Leith. It is Scotland's first vertical distillery to operate for over 100 years! The Port of Leith brand also produces two Sherry wines that are crafted from Bodegas Baron, a 480 year old producer with a very modern outlook. Sherry plays a crucial role in transforming the character of many of Scotland’s best-loved whiskies, and this sherry will enhance their own whisky.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
