Flowers in Healing - Make your own Aromatherapy Potion
Bringing plants into our lives helps us in so many ways, and I believe flowers hold a lot of quiet power. In the healing they bring, their joy and beauty and the important part they play when we mark special occasions. Scent is also one of our earliest memories - it can take us back to a time or a person, can be healing and also a warning system. Memories of flowers and scent have always been important in some way for me. Snapshots of different times, old fashioned flowers - Candelabra Primula and Muscari, the wild gorse and lupins growing wild, picking brambles and making rose petal perfume in jars. Favourite flowers, wild plants - happiest times picking something I recognise and taking it back to make something. With drawing and painting I find out more about it – the plant properties, perhaps some folklore and how it can be used, whether edible, poisonous or even medicinal. The apothecary of healing available in nature, and the ancient knowledge that we are still uncovering is amazing. Who knows what else will be discovered? ‘The earth laughs in flowers’
