Join us for our annual Carnall Peace Award which this year goes to Cloud and Accucilia Maboudi who have been working with young people in Zimbabwe to bring a message of peace to a new generation through sport and poetry. We are also taking this opportunity to celebrate around the world and to reaffirm our commitment to working for peace in our own lives and communities, locally and globally with a night of poetry and music.
Featuring:
- Cloud and Accucilia Maboudi who will speak about their work with young people in Zimbabwe promoting peace, and share peace poems from the poetry writing competition they set up
- Mark Birkett who will talk about P&J’s new peacebuilding projects working with young people
- Peace poetry from members of Scottish PEN, an organisation fighting for the right to freedom of expression for poets and writers across the world.
- Peace songs sung by Eileen Penman (further musicians tbc)
- Chaired by Dr. Lesley Orr, honorary fellow of the Centre for Theology and Public Issues, University of Edinburgh
Come along early for some food and drink provided by P&J.
