The multi-award-winning jazz artist, editor-in-chief, journalist, Grammy Academy member and founder of the award winning Women in Jazz Media organisation Fiona Ross is coming to Scotland!
Performing in Edinburgh and Aberdeen with her trio – Derek Daley on Bass and Loren Hignell on saxophone – Fiona will be debuting songs written specifically for this mini tour which will be included in her upcoming album. Considering her Scottish roots, it is surprisingly that this is the first time she is playing in Scotland. Her father, who passed when she was a child, was born in Forfar, one of the youngest from a family of 15 and Fiona comes from a rich Scottish heritage. Owning bookshops in Edinburgh, town criers and even a rumoured relationship with J M Barrie, stories of her family have been part of Fiona’s upbringing from an early age. ‘I was proudly presented with a Ross kilt when I was about six – it doesn’t fit me anymore! As my father passed when I was young, I have always felt a strong connection with Scotland as part of him and I am so very excited to come and play. Sadly, a lot of my close relatives from Scotland have now passed. My Uncle George, was known as quite the character. Lived by a golf course, drank whiskey and played golf every day up until he passed at 100!’
Fiona Ross will be performing an exclusive live set with Derek Daley (Bass) and Loren Hignell (Sax) who feature on most of her 8 albums. The set will include material from several of her award winning albums and debuting three new songs written for this tour which will be included in her upcoming album due to be released in early 2025. Named among the 100 Alternative Power Music List for 2020, multi-award winning jazz artist, editor-in-chief, journalist, Grammy Academy member and founder of the award winning Women in Jazz Media organisation Fiona Ross never stops. As a vocalist, pianist, composer and producer Fiona has become known for creating her own contemporary Jazz sound using fast paced Latin Jazz, vintage jazz club and a little neo soul along with heart wrenching ballads. Performing at prestigious venues across the UK, her music is played on radio stations all over the world and with a strong social media presence, she has garnered nearly 1 million views of her music videos. Expect some fascinating conversations, smiles and great music. This is not to be missed!'
