The race was introduced as part of the Edinburgh Hogmanay Festival and we are pleased to say we have kept going as long as the partying has .
As always we aim to make this a great start the year of sport in Scotland.
This is a race for everyone; a fun race for those who have never done a triathlon before or a competitive test of winter fitness for the experienced. The race gives you the opportunity to start the year as you mean to continue - and with a great atmosphere from the support of both competitors and spectators you will have a great time.
Every entrant receives a race momento so they can remember their achievement.
For many, this was an annual event, so welcome back, and I hope you not only go faster this year, but that you also enjoy it at least as much as you did previously! We love the fact that over the last few year we have had a pretty even split male and female competitors ; we are very proud that our event offers a safe and inclusive event for everyone.
If the 400m swim (8 lengths of the Commie Pool), the 11 mile cycle (three times around Arthurs Seat in a clockwise direction) or 3.5 mile run (once around Arthurs Seat again clockwise) seems too much then why not enter a team?
There is no need for the kids to feel left out - there is a separate Duathlon race for 8 to 15 year olds. This involves a short run, 2k bike, short run - all on closed roads. If you like the sound of the race but are daunted by the thought of doing a triathlon then please have a look at Edinburgh Triathletes website https://www.edinburghtri.org/and you will get lots of useful hints and access to coaching support.
We hope to see you 1st January!
The Children's race starts at 11.00, the adults starts at 12.00.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
