This workshop is for all women aged 16 and up.
This workshop will be a mix of physical and non-physical training, expect about 50/50 of each. We will look at sharpening our skills for spotting potential threats and taking action to avoid or prevent physical violence if possible. And we will work on how to use physical force to break away when we don't have other options. Our goal is for women to leave feeling empowered and more confident in their own strength and abilities. No previous experience necessary.
Some of the topics we will cover include:
-Situational awareness
-Types of violence and early warning signs
-Boundary setting
-Talk about different strategies and instinctive responses, including the freeze response.
-How to generate power and aim for vulnerable points
-Defending against strikes
-Dealing with grabs and holds
*No questions asked concession. We want to make this workshop accessible to as many as possible who need these skills. We hope that if you can afford to pay the full price that you will support the work that we do.
Proceeds from the workshop will go to the 500 Rising Development Fund, find out more at https://www.500rising.org/giving/
