What can puppetry reveal about music?
In a new collaboration between Scottish Ensemble and multi-award-winning puppetry company Blind Summit, puppeteers and musicians play together to discover the ways puppetry and music lead each other in a fragile dance.
Experimenting with form through visuals and sound, the puppets will respond through musical moments – from the romance of Arnold Schoenberg to the mesmerising modern world of Philip Glass.
Following their successful partnership with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra through which they brought the folk tale of Peter and the Wolf to life at the Hollywood Bowl, Blind Summit take on their next musical collaboration with Scottish Ensemble, known for their cross-artform experimental style, and together explore the boundaries of their mediums.
Following its World Premiere at Manipulate Festival, The Law of Gravity travels to Dundee Rep (Friday 14 February) and heads to Glasgow to the RSNO New Auditorium (Saturday 15 February).
The performance will include:
Arnold Schoenberg Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night)
Philip Glass Symphony No.3
A 30-minute Q&A will follow the performance.
