Penny Hunt, an avid hillwalker and cyclist, is a former member of Mountain Rescue and a volunteer at Craven Wildlife Rescue. Her studio is in Settle, nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Her fascination with the stories of the men entrusted to guide an entire village's cattle on their arduous journeys on droveroads inspired her recent work.
The paintings in this exhibition have already been shown at the Dales Countryside Museum. Penny’s landscapes incorporate the colours of the plaids worn by drovers, subtle clues to the treasures they carried, and even traces of modern life scattered along these ancient tracks.
