Peploe and Cadell are perhaps the two most well known Artists of the four Scottish Colourists - sharing a great love of colour, still life and landscape.
Beginning with a tour and discussion of the Scottish Colourist Exhibition, we will then return to the studio and take a deep dive into the importance of colour, learning about colour mixing, and understanding the colour principles and theories in their work. We will use this knowledge to work from two still life set ups inspired by the Artists, learning about how they composed their work, and how they used colour and paint.
Participants will work on small scale colour studies, before working up in scale to a larger canvas resulting in an acrylic painting inspired by the previous day's work.
