**An Enchanting Tale of Love, Music, and Family**
The timeless musical, “The Sound of Music,” is set to captivate audiences with its heartwarming story and unforgettable melodies. Join us on a journey through the Austrian Alps, as we follow the adventures of Maria, a spirited young novice nun who transforms the lives of the von Trapp family with her love of music.
Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II Austria, the story begins with Maria leaving the convent to become a governess for the seven children of the widowed Captain von Trapp. Through her warmth, kindness, and musical talent, Maria brings joy and laughter to the von Trapp household, creating a harmonious bond with the children and their stern father.
As the threat of war looms, the von Trapp family faces difficult choices that test their courage and resilience. With iconic songs such as “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Edelweiss,” “The Sound of Music” is a celebration of love, hope, and the power of music to uplift the human spirit.
Don’t miss the chance to experience this beloved musical, which continues to inspire generations with its message of love and unity.
Having produced the show previously in 1994 and 2002, we are delighted to be revisiting this production with a new generation of young people. This revival Directed by Aoife Summers, with Musical Direction from Jack Gardner, plus Choreography from Jayne Orchard and Mirrin Macleay - promises an enchanting evening of theatre, that will leave audiences humming its memorable tunes long after the final curtain call.
This amateur production of The Sound of Music is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of The Rogers and Hammerstein Organization. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
